The British Medical Journal released a research paper concluding that Yaz and Yasmin containing Drospirenone increases the risk of venous thromboembolism (VTE) by 100% compared to other oral contraceptives.

The FDA formally issued a Safety Alert again publicizing its continued concern regarding the side effects from the use of Yaz / Yasmin / Ocella including Pulmonary Embolisms, D.V.T.’s, U.T.E.’s, Strokes and Gall Bladder disease.
